Griffin Reunion at FDR State Park

The first weekend in March, our family gathered at a place we hold very dear to our hearts. A place we all grew up going to camp, roast marshmallows and make memories. That place is FDR State Park in Pine Mountain.

Friday night, us, the parents, Michael and Jessica went into town and had a Friday night fish fry dinner at the local buffet place. Afterwards, we hung around the campfire talking, BS'ing and just relaxing.

Saturday, I took Stella down to Kathleen and Joey's cabin to play with Kallie and Eleanor.  Later on, Stella & Pop took a walk.

Later on, she rode around in the truck with Daddy and her Uncle Mikey waving "Hello" to her cousins.

Jessica gave Stella an itty bitty trim and I got a haircut too. She even fixed it up all purdy for me.

That evening we had a potluck supper down at the pavilion and playground and everyone joined in for a game of wiffle ball.

FYI: for a family game of wiffle ball, home is a jacket, 1st is a tree, 2nd is somewhere out behind the pitcher, and 3rd is another tree.

Laney's safe at first!

Kallie's turn to bat

Laney's teaching Kallie all about the game. Meanwhile, Duke is busy keeping his eye on the ball and making jokes.

Go Carla & Joey!

Michael made it home!

Lots of pretty blonde-headed girls here!

The Sutherland's (minus 1) looking very entertained!

Sleepy girls

Yay bubbles! And Jessica. Girl loves both so much!!

Tanner & Mommy

Upside down penguin slide?

Go Mama!  She hit the ball on the first pitch, but then crashed & burned. No problem. She got right back up & kept going!

MVP!! Kim caught the ball without a glove and while holding Tanner! Woo Hoo!

These guys. Let's all pretend Michael actually carved their initials in that tree right there.

Time for S'mores!!!

Stella-
Here, let me put on this fake smile & look completely uninterested while you make me hold this bag of 'mallows  just so you can get a picture of me in these s'more & camo pj's you were so excited to find. Done!

Little lady passed out around the campfire later on that night.

And continued to wear the same thing the next day.

We went back down to visit Kallie & Eleanor, but
this time we brought cousin Tanner with us.

And then we walked back up to our cabin with cousin Duke.

I see that hiney, so white and shiny.
Someone's pj pants are too big without a diaper on!

Just checking out the geese in the pond.

Somebody was the tickler & somebody else was the ticklee

"Too high" she says

Where's Stella? Peek-a-boo!

We had lunch outside at The Rose Cottage Bakery and Cafe in downtown Pine Mountain. Stella picked a bunch of flowers to give me while she was out on a walk with Daddy and Bandit.  After lunch we loaded back into the truck and headed home.

I always enjoy going to Pine Mountain. I think I love it even more now being able to bring Stella and see her have similar experiences to mine as a child. I really want to go back this Fall and camp. We'll see how that goes.....
