Sweetwater Saturday

We woke up Saturday morning to blue skies and lots of sunshine. Donald immediately suggested us all going for some sort of nature walk. We decided on Sweetwater Creek and headed out around 10 am.

Usually Stella is a happy camper about doing anything outside, but this morning was different. Stella wasn't so enthusiastic about waking so we tried lots of different ways to keep her entertained. We pointed out squirrels, every one of the thousands (it seemed) of puppy dogs which passed us by, other kids happily behaving with their parents, etc. Basically we ended up carrying her about half of the time. And of course I would forget to bring my Tula carrier on this particular day.

Stella really wanted to go down to the water but she doesn't understand not being able to get in and gets upset. She also has no fear and will try to leap in the freezing cold water. She attempted jumping from this huge boulder we were resting on here for this picture.

We walked down to the old mill ruins, then turned around to walk back.

She seriously had no interest in walking at this point and acted as though she would drop into a deep sleep from exhaustion if forced to take one more step. So I threw her on my back and we chased after Daddy and Bandit.

Then we saw another family with 2 year old (guessing) boy and girl twins who would run up to the red squares on the trees marking the correct trail. They'd hit the square with a stick and run on to find the next one. Smart one, mom-Make it a game. Ta da! Our next distraction was us being total copycats.
We asked Stella if she could find the red dots on the trees. Whenever she did, I'd pick her up and fly her to the dot and she chose to high-5 it with her hands. Then she decided that on top of smacking the tree, she also wanted to stomp the dots with her feet.
So I made Donald take over. She loves riding on her Daddy's shoulders so they went that route for finding the rest of the dots. She loved it and she wasn't fussing so we were all happy.

We headed to Irish Bred Pub in downtown Douglasville for lunch. They have a lovely patio area which was perfect for both Bandit and Stella. The food was great and the weather was perfect-almost like an early Spring day.
