Happy Tuesday

Last night was crazy. We were awoken around 2 am by mice. We were awake until 4:30-5:00 dealing with them. (Insert sarcastic "Yay!" 🙄😁😩

This morning, I was woken up by a soft, sweet little hand rubbing my back & shoulders. I also heard Donald asking Stella if she wanted to watch Fig. She said "No, we don't want to wake Mommy." He turned it on anyways-quietly and when I did eventually roll over to face her she was so happy I was awake, she gave me the sweetest smile and big hug and kiss.  When I looked at the clock, it was much later than I expected it to be-9:00. I had an appointment with Dr. Annie at 10:30, but couldn't make myself get up just then.

Finally I got up just before 9:30 and we scarfed down a quick breakfast. Rice Krispies for Stella and yogurt with chia seeds, fresh apricots and toasted almonds.

On the way to Dr. Annie's, we drove by the new stadium and saw considerable changes. We love watching the space grow into something new and exciting. Yesterday they had the topping out party. I can't believe in just less then a year this will be where the Braves play.

We came back home, grabbed Stella's swimsuit and some stuff for a yummy picnic and and headed over to a fountain at the Silver Comet Trail and the bicycle rental shop on Floyd Road. I'd only driven by once to check this place out on recommendation but it had been a while. It turned out to be the perfect little spot.

We laid down our blanket and Stella got everything out for our picnic. We dined under a big oak tree in the shade where it was much cooler.

About halfway through lunch, a mom showed up with three kids. They immediately went for the water. Other than them we had the whole place to ourselves.

Just as we were finishing up our al fresco lunch, I noticed dark clouds and we heard thunder. I changed her into her suit so she could at least get wet for a bit. She played for 20 minutes or so but then the clouds darkened even more during that playtime, the wind picked up and the thunder was getting louder and more frequent.

We scooped up our belongings and on the quick walk back to the car I noticed wild blackberries. I stopped a picked a handful and popped a few in my mouth and some into Stella's. She immediately asked to get more. I could tell the rain was coming but we took off, grabbed a few more-this time she helped and we dashed back to the car just as the rain began to pour.

We made it home and we beat the storm. Stella got out of her swimsuit and crawled into bed for a nap. She called Bandit in her room and surprisingly he came. Then, even more to my surprise, he jumped in her bed. She could have burst with joy. Oh my goodness was she happy. She's been wanting this for so long but her doesn't pay her much attention.

She never actually napped but they laid beside each other cuddling for over 20 minutes while the rain fell.

After Stella deemed her snuggle time with B had come to an end, she had arts and crafts time. She drew, colored and played with her squishy sand.  While it continued to storm, I turned on Jack Johnson and John Mayer and we listened to it while she widened her imagination-all while I cleaned the kitchen. We even danced together for a while-especially during "banana pancakes." It was a good memory.

Tonight I got to put Stella to bed. We read some stories in the chair then I read the last one next to her in the bed. She asked me to snuggle with her. She laid my head on her chest and stroke my hair. She lifted my head and then cupped my face. I began singing to her "You are my sunshine" and she joined in. We sang it twice, then "Twinkle", "I love you forever", and lastly "Mmm Hmm" which is just me humming "Sunshine" but she actually makes the humming noise as a song suggestion. ❤️ I snuggled into her neck and she squeezed me tight. I kept laying kisses on her and she kept looking so sweetly at me with her big blue eyes and smiling. Oh it was perfect.

Then she put in to sit me with and rock in the chair. How could I resist more cuddles? She crawled up, laid there for about a minute and said, "I'm not really all that sleepy right now."
I explained it was time to go to bed and she needed to think happy, sleepy thoughts. Literally within a minute or two, the thumb popped out of her mouth and am she was asleep.
I snuck a few more kisses on her cheeks and lips and laid her down next to B in the bed.

Oh happy day!

Tomorrow we finish prep for another week at the beach. Even better? It's with Daddy this time! We can't wait for family time alone on the sand.
