52 Project; week 26

Drinking and driving or hunting fireflies?I saw a few lightening bugs and wanted to catch some for Stella to see. But about the time we got a jar and headed back out, the few we saw had disappeared. It was earlier than normal for them to be out. Donald walked up asking what we're up to and pointed out it looked like she was sipping on some 'shine.

Week on Pictures: June 16-22

Monday:

You ate breakfast at the coffee table with me. I sat on the couch and you sat in your orange chair. You did very well.

After breakfast, we played in your room. Landon left a neon green golf ball the week before and I started tossing it in the air. You liked what I was doing and pointed to it. I have it to you and you threw it...hard. Whoops! Guess I shouldn't do that anymore.

We stayed around the house all day until that evening. You refused twice to take a nap in the morning and finally gave it up at 2 o'clock. You ended up sleeping almost 3 hours. I was able to get a lot accomplished so I appreciate that.

We left at 6 pm to go look at a push cart/bike for you. It ended up working out and fitting you so I bought it used for a whole $10.

In the way home we stopped off at the duck pond. We fed the ducks and a few squirrels and you played for just a bit on the slide. You even went down it by yourself! We saw the train and then went home.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday:
We went to story time at the Smyrna library. There ended up being roughly 25 kids. We were sitting right next to the story teller so you couldn't see the pictures and as a result didn't seem too interested. You were a little more involved in the songs. Mostly though, you just wanted to play with the books and the story teller's water bottle.
You played with some puzzle pieces with other kids while I picked out some books for you.
We went to Publix,  came home, then had lunch on the porch. You started hand feeding B his dog food after he cleaned up your mess.
I put you in your new ride to visit and deliver thank you cards to Wilma, Pauline and Wilma.
You napped for a bit, then we went swimming. We picked our handful of ripe blueberries and one blackberry.
Then we bathed B outside in your swimming pool. He did good & you helped by splashing in the water. From doing this outside I can see are going to be an excellent puddle jumper and mud pie maker.
I was trying to wash dishes or start supper and you started pulling the pans out of the oven drawer. Initially you just had the round cake pans but then I look down to see you chilling in this! A 9 X 13 baking pan. Weirdo!
We enjoyed a snack of hummus and veggie straws (you) and triscuits (me) in the rug above in the kitchen. I realize this isn't the most ideal place to have a snack but I was still wet from being in my bathing suit, but I didn't feel like sitting outside so we just chilled here. You accidentally smeared a hummus covered straw in the kitchen cabinet. Apparently you thought this meant I was giving you permission to "paint" the cabinet. Then you started diving in the hummus bowl with your fingers instead of the straw and smearing them. We stopped eating hummus then.
Later in the evening, Daddy took you outside to play. When he brought you back up to the house, you saw me through the back door. He told you to kiss me so you leaned in to the glass and did. I squatted down and kisses you back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wednesday:

I love your happy expressions and demeanor (most of the time). Oh and those pigtails, of course!  This is my new background on my phone.

Abi came over to babysit so I could get some things done around the house that are difficult to do with you in it (vacuum, mop). Y'all went swimming and played outside.
You learned how to walk backwards too. We were sitting in the kitchen on the floor (yeah, I know, day 2 of this) and you would creep around the island, then walk backwards and creep around the other side. It was so cute. And I was just saying the week before that I realized you didn't know how to do that, but now you do!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thursday:
Daddy had to leave very early to fly to D.C. We slept in and I could t resist snapping a photo of you snoozing and then one of the two of us cuddling right after you woke up.
Tiffany and Landon met is at our house and we drove to the Roswell Sprayground.
You loved this place to begin with but shortly after you "dove in", I couldn't find you. I looked to see you down on the ground screaming and crying. A boy was standing over you trying to help you back up and also looking out into the crowd of parents for whoever you belonged to. I ran over to scoop you up but you were very worked up.  I couldn't find a bump, red mark or scrape on you anywhere which makes me think you either bumped into someone or got bumped into and knocked down. Even when you trip yourself up you get so emotional.
You calmed down but still wasn't too keen on the idea of me letting you go or walking away. It was also past your naptime so that didn't help. We snacked a little before leaving and headed home. You almost immediately fell asleep and Landon followed shortly thereafter.
Y'all had lunch and then played in your room for an hour or more. You started getting sleepy and ended up nearly falling asleep on my chest while they were still here. They gathered their things and left.
After you napped, we had dinner and went shopping. Well, more like window shopping. I was looking for a particular dress at Ross so we went to Smyrna to go there and to Marshall's and TJ Maxx. I just parked in the middle of the parking lot, threw you on my back and we walked around the stores browsing. It was fairly late to be heading out but you napped pretty late so I knew you'd be good to go. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did get you a new book. You did great and went right to sleep once we got home.  I stayed up way too late and moved you in the bed with me when I went to bed...at 1 am!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Friday:

You woke up early much to my dismay. You were clingy and weepy and hot all morning. You ended up running a moderate fever off and on that day so you weren't quite yourself.

We picked our first green zucchini and two tomatoes; a yellow and red grape. We will probably have one or two gold zucchini a ready next week . You ate the yellow tomato but not the red one. We also enjoyed a few blackberries.

We drove down to Sylvester to visit. You only slept for a little over an hour. You did entertain yourself for about 45 minutes afterwards and then we stopped. I got in the back to feed you snacks and keep you happy. This worked for 30 minutes or so and then you just wanted to get to me.

Everyone was over for dinner at Nini and Grandaddy's so you got to play with your cousins.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday:
We went to town to visit Nina and Grammy stopped by too. You stayed out at Nini's the rest of the day so Mommy and Daddy could go visit some friends. I got a tattoo in honor of you. Something very simple to show you in my heart.
Nini said you napped in the bed for an hour then woke up.  She grabbed you and you fell back asleep in her arms. She said you were still asleep when Aunt Ginger and Uncle Paul came over with the kids so y'all could play. I know she enjoyed having you all peaceful in her arms. You also went down to Peggy's to visit late in the evening. Nini said you never made the first whimper the whole time we were gone. I'm so proud of you!
We got in around 10 pm and you were pretty much asleep, but I guess you heard us and decided to wake up. You were happy to see Daddy, but lost all interest in him once you got your eye on me. I had to run to the bathroom and change and you just fell apart. Like, totally and completely apart because I "left" you. It was horrible. The crying, sobbing, screaming, tears, all of it. You got so worked up and awake it was difficult to get you back to sleep. All you wanted to do was roll all over the bed. You'd roll and put your butt up in the air and bounce it, then roll and do it all over again. It must have been close to midnight when you passed out. I honestly don't know because I think we all three fell asleep around the same time. You ended up just sleeping in the bed with us the whole night. You kept trying to hog Daddy's side and even his pillow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sunday:

We took family photos with Amanda. You wanted no part in this. At all. You started crying and really only wanting me from the get-go. It was hot and soooo muggy out which didn't help. It was mostly a disaster and I didn't get to do all the things I wanted to for our pictures, but we did manage to get some cute ones. I really wanted some of just you and Daddy, but you wouldn't let him hold you.

We had lunch at Grammy and Grampy's. Great Grandpa came out to visit also. Grammy picked fresh blueberries for you before we got there and you munched on those before lunch. You ate lots of yummy steak and mushrooms they fixed for you. You also had your first taste of chocolate ice cream. You seemed to really like it.

You snoozed on Daddy's chest for about an hour while almost everyone else in the house followed suit. I actually couldn't go to sleep on the couch because of Grampy and Great Grandpa's loud snoring!

We then went back to Nini and Grandaddy's to pack up. A bad storm came through so we hung out for a while. You slept for a little over two hours on the ride back home and did really good the remainder of the trip. Once we got home, that was a different story. You started back with the temper tantrums.  All together, Sunday wasn't a very good day for you.

New this week:

*You got into the habit of throwing your food in the floor to eat like B this week and last. So gross. But I know you love him so much. Hmmm.... How long will this phase last?
*You figured out how to sit in your Minnie Mouse chair backwards. And our laps. Sometimes you still miss but you tend to get pretty close.
*You got your 5th tooth this week. On Tuesday, I think. #6 is still just hanging out. We can see him through your gums but he's not quite ready to make an appearance.
*I noticed this over a month ago but I keep forgetting to mention it. You have either your first freckle or a beauty mark to the left of your bottom lip. It's so adorable. Cousin Ansley has a beauty mark so maybe you'll have one too.
*You started trying to use a utensil. You like taking the fork and trying to poke and stab at things with it.
*I found your polar bear finger puppet in a mug inside the freezer. How did he get in there? I don't remember discussing with you how polar bears love the cold.

52 Project; week 25

Love her and her pigtails. And her 2 little teeth on the bottom. And her 3 up top that you can't see in the picture. So happy that she is the happiest, cutest thing most days of the week.

Week in Pictures June 9-15

Monday:

Grammy and Grampy went back home and I put you down for a nap. You ended up sleeping for two hours!  Although you haven't been fighting me for naps or bedtimes since Memorial Day, you usually only sleep for 30-45 minutes in the morning so this was a nice treat.

We played outside the rest of the day. We tried to get back in the pool, but again, it was too cool for you. Instead, You ran in the sprinkler & pushed your car around.

Uncle Mikey and Aunt Jess gave you the cutest shades with stars on them. We posed for a picture to send to them.

Monday is laundry day and you were running around pulling clothes out of the basket. You just kept on so finally I sat you in the basket. You were so content and apparently very sleepy. I didn't realize how close it was to your afternoon nap. I'm not positive, but I think you fell asleep. I should have left you in it and just pushed you further out of the sun. I wonder how long you would have slept?

When I walked up to see your face, you did look towards me, but your eyes were barely open.

Then, the weirdest thing happened. You walked up to me, while I was laying on my stomach reading. You threw your leg over my back & sat down backwards on the small of my back. You grabbed both of my legs and starting biting my toes! I didn't have my phone near so I couldn't get this on camera. You didn't let me down though, you did it again about an hour later and my phone was handy. You thought it was hilarious when is scream and laugh so you'd do it again.

You've been biting my toes since I got them painted a little over a month ago. I guess you think I have candy on them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday:
You had your 12 month doctor appointment at 10. You did great. Of course, you cried for your shots, but you didn't have any reaction and seemed to feel just fine the rest of the day. In fact, that was the best you've been after getting shots. You usually are very clingy and weepy and just whimper all day. It's nice you snuggle with you all day, but I am glad you didn't feel bad.
We wished JP a happy birthday. This picture was a whole lot cuter this year than your 2 day old picture from last year. However, it was no where near as funny.
I still cannot believe this finger pose was a complete accident!
You like your chair but are still having a hard time figuring out how to sit down backwards in it. This was comfy for you.
We hung outside in the afternoon and you played with your new wheelbarrow we got you for your birthday. You flipped it over upside down and sat on it.  Then you started patting my back. I turned to talk to you and you kissed me. It was like you were trying to get my attention to kiss me. I loved it.
We went up to Los Bravos to celebrate JP's birthday. You did much better this week than 2 weeks ago.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wednesday:

This picture was taken When you were a year and 3 days old.

This one was when you were 2 days old. It was our first morning at home.

You are beginning to recognize Daddy in pictures. I suppose you recognize me, but you never say "Mama" just "Dada". You've been taking the frame I have next to the bed with Daddy's pictures in it and pointing to say "Dada." This morning you kissed it.

Daddy slept in because he had a doctor appointment. While he got ready, you walked around the house like you had a peg leg. So strange.

During lunch on the porch, you started taking B's food out of his bowl. I noticed you trying to push it through the cracks in the porch floor like the coins in the piggy bank slot. Such a smart girl!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thursday: We didn't do much, just hung out at the house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Friday:

We drove up to Blue Ridge for cousin Jennifer's 40th birthday party. I fixed a spaghetti dinner for us, along with Uncle Mikey, cousin Matt and Rebecca and great Grandpa. We hung out at Aunt Katha's cabin for a little while, then you went to bed (super late) and slept the whole night.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday:
We drove around all day and night with you in our laps. You seemed to enjoy it.
We didn't bring your highchair so it was a little difficult to feed you. You fed yourself spaghetti for a bit, but then started getting irritated.
After a while, you started irritating me. I told you so and then you started acting cute.
Shortly after you came up and kissed me about five times. You were forgiven for the aforementioned irritation.
You slept for a little over an hour but when you awoke, you were in a bad mood. You just cried and were so unhappy. We went down the mountain to Jennifer's birthday party down in the valley and the music and distractions helped some.
You are so happy with Ansley and Laney.
Not so happy in Sam's lap though.
I love this picture. Just love!
And this one too. You're just so precious.
I wore you most of the night because you seemed to be happiest that way.
Someone set off a ton of fireworks right next to us and you got so scared. You actually handled it very well, but being thisclose to me and crawling up me was not close enough for you.
Late that night right before you passed out in my arms I sat down on a hay bale with you next to the bonfire. Daddy snuck up behind me and sat down around me. You started kissing me and him, going back and forth between us. It's one of my happiest memories.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sunday:

We had to check out at 10 am so we went up to Aunt Katha's to hang out and have breakfast.
I hopped in Uncle Mikey's new car for a picture before he left to head back home.

Today is Father's Day, Daddy's 2nd one. We drove home and while I nursed you, he left to pick up lunch. After lunch we shared a strawberry Popsicle, then went for a swim in the pool. Daddy and me ran around the pool over and over again to make a whirlpool and let you float in the jet ski shaped float Grammy and Grampy got you. You had fun in it and Mommy and Daddy slipped all over the place because the floor was a little slimy.

Daddy's trying to show you how to hang on to the pool noodle, but you're more interested in the birdie in the tree.

I made Daddy a mug with photos of you on it. He can bring it to work to drink his tea and coffee in and think of you. You are so lucky to have such a great Daddy!

52 Project; week 24

Our weekend consisted of the mountains, family, birthdays, BBQ, bonfires & fireflies. Stella woke up in terribly clingy and whiny mood after her nap yesterday but perked up once getting around music and her cousins. Thank goodness!

Week in Pictures June 2-8

Monday we went here It was awesome.

We came home and went swimming.....for about 5 minutes. If that. The water has been in the pool for a few weeks now, but it's still really chilly.

I noticed this beauty- a gold zucchini (didn't know there was such a thing until I purchased it) and we also have a few tomato plants with fruit on the vine. We have nine varieties and I think four are bearing fruit.

I used the bathroom and didn't shut the lid or make sure you came out. I just turned the light off and walked off calling your name. I assumed you would follow. You did....with a handful of wet toilet paper. That you so kindly pulled from the toilet and handed to me. Thank you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday:
We visited our neighbor Sarah and the kids for an hour or so in the morning. We came home and you went right to sleep. No fighting me or anything. It only lasted 30 minutes though.
You barely ate lunch and as usual, started getting fussy around 4:30. You wouldn't go down for a nap even though you'd been awake for over five hours. I decided I didn't want to hear you grumbling so I put you in the carrier on my back. Within 10 minutes you were asleep. Daddy came home and helped move you to your crib. It was 5:30. You woke up at 6:15 and I sat down in the recliner with you. Immediately you conked back out.
 I sat with you for over an hour but eventually I had to use the potty and I was hungry and thirsty. So I got up. You woke up but then went back to sleep.  After a few tries I was able to put you back in bed.
I managed to eat supper and shower super quick but you woke up as I was finishing. By this point it was around 9. You woke up a ton more times, screaming like crazy every time. My head was killing me and so was my tailbone and I just couldn't see myself sleeping in the chair so I put you in bed with us and you slept there the entire night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wednesday:

This morning at 7 am, you sat up and looked at me and smiled. Then you leaned over and gave me four kisses on the mouth. You also grabbed my hand shortly thereafter and kissed the palm of it. I love this kissy phase you are in. So sweet! I believe the top teeth next to your front teeth are coming in. That usually explains your sleepless nights.

I filled the kiddie pool back up with water for you. You were mainly just interested in playing with the hose while it filled. I put it up to my mouth and then squirted water onto your chest. You giggled and smiled. I did it a few more times and each time, you laughed and smiled more.

I set up the sprinkler for you to run through since you enjoyed the splash park so much. I turned on Pandora to the oldies station and the first song was "Blue Moon." No kidding.

I needed to do a few things for your party and needed to keep you occupied. I'm glad you aren't a zombie in front of the TV but I admit, some days it would be easier if I could park you in front of it. I gave you some crayons and taped a piece of newspaper down to the kitchen floor. You banged them around and acted like you sort of knew what you were doing. Then you started sucking in the crayons and then it was over.

I needed to mail a thank you card so we went down to the mailbox. You helped me open the door, put the letter in, put up the flag and close the door. Later on when the mail came, you opened the door to get the mail.  You recognize the airplane and train noises and I'm trying to get you to recognize when the mail comes by since the mail truck has such a distinctive noise.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thursday:
All of a sudden you look so long and big. You take up so much space in your crib, not to mention our bed.
After you woke from your nap I took you to the duck pond and park. We'd never fed the ducks before and you got so excited when they started walking towards us and quacking. There were also geese.
This guy/gal took the bread right out of your hand!
We played on the slide for a minute, but then heard the train. We ran to the street to watch it go by. You made your "choo choo" noise.
Double fisting already!
We stopped by Tiffany and Landon's to check on their house and the kitty. Callie was so sweet when we got there. She sat on the edge of the bed and let you pet her and love all over her.
I took you to Grub Burger to eat lunch. You did amazing! There was loud music and people everywhere and you were so busy watching them that you never even thought of fussing. You fed me food off and on and even kissed me a few times.
You don't really mess with B's collar quite as much as you did a few months ago, but now you like wearing it like a collar when you do grab it. You lay it over the back of your neck just like B when he wears it. Such a smartie pants.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Friday:

Mommy and Daddy got all gussied up to go to Laura and Erik's wedding. Grammy and Grampy stayed with you. I took out the inflatable rubber ducky bathtub they got you for c Christmas and we are letting Bennett borrow it since you have outgrown it.  They gave you a bath in the actual tub like a big girl. They said you were wonderful. We got in late and unfortunately you decided to wake up early.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday I didn't take any pictures as we were busy getting ready for your party.  That night we had lasagna on the porch and you found out if you flick the straw on your new cups it will spray water. You did it on accident and laughed because I guess it hit you. then you did it again and giggled. This went on for probably five minutes. It was super cute and I was shocked that you caught on so quickly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sunday:
Your 1st birthday! I can't believe a whole year has passed.

You really dove in and enjoyed the homemade carrot cake with real cream cheese frosting. You especially liked licking the frosting and sprinkles from your fingers.

We let you run around in the sprinkler with Silver, Cameron and Cadence to get "clean."

Then Aunt Jessica gave you your first haircut. Yep, we snipped off those double side rat tails!

It looked great when she finished, much thicker in the back, but now you look so grown.

You passed out after all of the birthday excitement.

Hey there Doodlebug!

We opened your presents after everyone left and you were mainly just interested in playing with the tissue paper. You tore it into tiny pieces.

The cake sugar rush set in about 3 hours after you finished. It was impossible to get you to stand or sit still. I've truly never seen you act that way before. You were in a great mood and laughing but all over the place! Grammy had to hold you somewhat still just so we could get your last month picture.

Brian, Kim and Grayson gave you this cute little Minnie Mouse chair. The first time you sat in it, you did it perfectly. From there out, you just kept pushing back on it and sliding down out of it . We think maybe you're trying to get it reclined since our other chairs lean back and this one is straight up and down. Who knows?

The last part of your birthday ended up being not so great for you.  You bumped your head on the corner of the herb garden.  Then we were on the porch and I lifted up the chair to get closer to the table. I didn't know you were rightthere next to me and I sat the chair leg down on your foot/toe. I felt awful. Then at some point you hit the top of your mouth/gums with a lotion bottle and cried again. You pretty much lost it when we were getting you ready for bed and just cried the entire time. I know, you were sleepy. It had been a long, busy and fun day. You did so good.

This was a very busy week. Mommy and Daddy did a lot of prep and running around for your first birthday party. We had a great time and you appeared to also. We love you so very much. I told Daddy last night that it seemed like you've only been around a few months. I look back at photos on my phone and think it was taken a few days or weeks ago, but it'd be back in February or March. Time has passed so very quickly. Daddy just laughed and said,  "It's been a good year." It has baby girl, it really has.
