Week in Pictures: August 11-17

Monday:

You woke up at 12:30 am so I went in to get you and rock you. I fell asleep and woke back up at 3:30. I felt like I couldn't move. I was in a horrible position in the recliner-basically not reclined. I don't remember when I brought you in to the bed with us, but that morning I was asleep and I felt you tapping me pretty hard on the shoulder. I looked up at you and you pointed to my boobies and then pulled the covers down to nurse. Tip for the future: you could have done all of that without waking me!

I got up to use the bathroom and you pointed to your frog potty. You brought it over to me and I pulled your diaper off and you peed in it-for the very first time.

You played in the guest room while I was in there doing something. You would "ta da" through the curtains and get so excited each time.

That evening, we had a potluck at Garden Club. You really weren't too interested in eating, especially at first, but you did manage to each a little. After supper, Daddy took you outside to play and run around.

Here you are sitting back where Mommy and Daddy officially began.

Tuesday:

I woke up and saw you and your hair looking like this and couldn't resist documenting this masterpiece.

I started to post it online and saw this gem below pop up. Daddy secretly took a picture of us sleeping. His description was "Peas and Carrots." It's from one of his favorite movies-Forrest Gump. I love it. Like I'm seriously truly, madly, deeply in love with it. There aren't many pictures of us this way and I want to frame it.

You went potty on the frog twice and once on the potty seat today. So proud of you!

We met cousin Tanner and Kim at The Center for Puppetry Arts. We saw the Eric Carle show. It was so, so good. Y'all did good too. You were scared at first when we walked in because it was so dark and it took you 5-10 minutes to adjust and let me move you a millimeter away from me (guess the train tunnel from the zoo did a number on you?!). After talking to you and pointing things out, you finally were comfortable sitting in my lap and then started looking around and eventually getting down to play with Tanner.
Afterwards we walked across the B.A.Y. (17th street) bridge to Atlantic Station and enjoyed a yummy lunch at Rosa Mexicana.

You sat still for a few minutes, then started trying to get out of the highchair (usual). I tried to get you to sit back down, but you reached for me. I sat you in my lap and you cozied right up to me. I knew you were tired as you'd been awake all morning and it was way after lunch time. I put you on my back and you almost immediately went to sleep. I ate lunch and you slept for about 45 minutes.

Look at this cuteness!

I gave you a pouch of yogurt to eat while I checked my phone before heading home. I all of a sudden smelled strawberry banana yogurt very intensely. I looked back to see it on you a bit. Then I walked around and saw this disaster below. I don't know if you accidentally squeezed it too hard or if there was a big air bubble that made it shoot out, but it was on everything. Your car seat cover got a wash that night.

We bathed Bandit in the bathtub that afternoon. You were so happy to watch. I think you only tried to crawl in once or twice. You did like getting your hands wet with the shower sprayer and then your started "bathing" me. You kept pushing my shirt up and rubbing the water on my back. Silly girl. I thought bathing him with you right there next to me would be a big ole pain, but it worked out very well. I'll definitely do it again.

Wednesday:

I tried to get you to go potty as soon as we woke up. You only wanted to sit for a few seconds though. You took off and ended up peeing on the hardwood floor right outside of the bathroom door. I somewhat yelled, just to get your attention and you stopped. I was sitting on the potty myself, so I couldn't really do anything. I got you to walk over to me and sit back on the frog and you continued peeing.

You didn't cry when I took you in the church for MMO. You're getting more and more comfortable about going and I'm so happy.

You got put in time out today for throwing things at me. First you through a toy and it landed on my foot and legitimately hurt. I told you that we don't throw things. Then you immediately threw your phone and hit my other foot, which hurt. I asked you to not do that again. You walked into the living room, picked up the tiny metal picture frame and threw it on the floor and a piece popped off. I yelled "No" at you and pulled out the orange chair and sat you in it for a few minutes. Once again, I tried explaining to you that we don't throw things. Thankfully, you didn't have anything in your hands. Otherwise, I'm sure you would have chucked it at me.

We walked around the yard that afternoon picking up sticks. I got your wheelbarrow out and our big one out for us to put stuff in. Your sorta got the hang of it, but you still need some work on pushing the wheelbarrow.

For dinner I fixed mini turkey meatloaves, mashed sweet potatoes, creamed corn  and green beans with onion and bacon. I just knew you were going to devour all of it. You only took about 2 bites of meatloaf and that was it. You totally hurt my feelings! You love pretty much any type of meat, sweet potatoes and corn, but wanted nothing to do with any of it. We wrapped your plate up to try again the next night.

Thursday:

We went to the chiropractor and then I took you to PetsMart to see the animals. You got so excited just walking through the parking lot near the door because of all of the dogs. Then you nearly lost your mind when I brought you to see the dogs being boarded.

This sweet Golden Retriever walked right up to the glass to say "Hello."

You also got to pet the adoption kitties, wave at birdies, mice, hamsters, fish, lizards, turtles and even kiss at Guinea Pigs. You loved this so much. You wanted to get pet toys to play with for yourself. Unfortunately there weren't any pets with their owners in the store for you to pet, but it didn't matter, this was a wonderful trip. And a free one. I think we may do this monthly-at least!

On the way from the chiro to PetSmart, we got to pass by where the new Braves stadium will be in a few years. It's only 8 miles from our house! Woo hoo!

That evening we watched Daddy play softball with cousin Justin. All you wanted to do was watch the boys on the soccer field kicking the balls around. You kept running out there towards them. If I had let you, you probably would have swiped a ball or two. I finally had to grab you and re-direct you. On the way over to the playground, you kinda flirted with a boy who had just turned one. You hugged him a few times and even gave him a smooch. You only wanted to swing for a minute. I think because you saw others climbing up the equipment and sliding. We went down the slide several times then went back over to see JP. Of course, you went right back to running onto the soccer field where the boys were practicing.

By the way, you didn't eat the turkey meatloaf dinner when we offered it. Cannot believe it!

Friday:

Daddy decided to stay home from work today. I got up a little early to get your lunch ready for MMO and I heard a thud. I ran into the bedroom to see you on the floor, but reaching up towards the bed and making this confused and crying face. I said, 'Oh my God, did she just fall off the bed?" to Daddy, but he was very out of it. I guess you tried to slide off the bed, but because you were still groggy and you had crawled over a pillow, it didn't work out too well for you. I don't believe you hurt yourself, but you were definitely a little startled.
I dropped you off at MMO and headed back home to get things ready so we could go to Lake Wedowee. But, because Papa was still in the hospital and Nini wouldn't have been able to come up with Grandaddy, we decided to just stay home that weekend. We invited them up instead, since I didn't know if Nini could go another two weeks before seeing you. They said they would check on Papa and then ride up Sunday after church.
Daddy cut the grass and then suggested we go have lunch together. We had hibachi at Miyako. It was lovely. Then we picked you up and headed home.  That night, Daddy grilled cheeseburgers and corn on the cob for us.  You really enjoyed supper.

Having Watermelon for a refreshing snack.

Saturday:

We were invited to Oakdale Park by Harper and her mommy (we met them at Atlantic Station for Toddler Tuesdays a few weeks ago). She and another friend, Londyn were playing and snacking and you enjoyed hanging out with them. They are both such cuties.

We didn't do much over the weekend. We were a little lazy. I filled up your kiddie pool and after you napped, you splashed in it and ran around the yard naked. Your little naked bum is just the cutest!

After dinner, we went to Pinkberry for frozen yogurt. I ordered you your own mini cup, but you were only interested in the berries on top. You wouldn't even try the yogurt on the spoon if I hide it behind a berry. You are so stubborn sometimes. Then we rode around Smyrna with the windows down. We brought Bandit with us and I thought we could go for a short evening walk after yogurt. Daddy drove through Smyrna Market Village and I saw people walking around a duck pond. The perfect place! You got to see ducks, geese, HUGE Koi fish in the pond and tons of turtles swimming.

Sunday:

We ran a few errands in the morning and picked up Zaxby's for lunch. I tried to get you to lay down for a nap, but you weren't interested. About an hour later, Daddy took you in to the bedroom and laid you on his chest and you napped for almost 3 hours! He watched TV the whole time and I was able to do some things around the house. The only reason you didn't sleep longer was because he said he just couldn't sit in the recliner any more.

Nini and Grandaddy arrived shortly thereafter and it took you around 15 minutes to get re-acquainted with them. After all, it had been almost 2 months since you'd seen them.  Daddy marinated and grilled a delicious chicken for us and even made homemade macaroni and cheese-his first time ever. He did a great job and you enjoyed it. That's pretty much the only way you'll eat pasta.

New this week:
*You started saying "Mama" to me. Finally! It's not a lot, but you're getting there.  I'm so happy to hear it each time. I love that you say "Dah Deee" and "Mah Muh".
*We've discovered you are definitely a climber. I kinda figured you would be. You are crawling up onto the coffee table and the chairs on the porch (although you've been doing that for quite a while now). You try to climb in the crib (not out....yet) and onto the frog bouncer. I think you'd crawl up the bookshelf in the living room if we had your toys all the way up it and not just on the bottom 2 shelves.
*You've been acting like you're trying to kick Bandit when he walks by. We noticed this also when Grammy and Grampy were up because you did the same thing to Riley. I think what you are doing is trying to mimic us when we rub B with our feet. You pick up your foot and sort of make the moving motion, but because your moves aren't always fluid, it looks like you're kicking him. We are trying to instruct you to do it softly. I know you mean well. You'd never intentionally hurt your puppy.
*You are very into drinking from our glasses. You pick ours up from the coffee table and walk around. The problem is, we don't always have the sippy lid on them and you just turn them up. Actually, Sunday right before Nini and Grandaddy arrived, we heard a thump and a whimper. I walked in the living room to see you on your back and the back of your head was wet. You had grabbed my cup (with the lid) and attempted to drink from it, but because you turned it up so much, a lot of water poured out and then you slipped in it.
